Dr Steven F. Skinner, DVM, Dip. ACVIM-Neurology, SHP,
President ESA
Inspired by several Strasser clinics, Dr. Skinner pushed on to become a certified Strasser Hoofcare Professional. He saw, in Dr Strasser’s work, an opportunity to change the paradigm of today’s veterinary thought and this excited him for the sake of the horse. He entered the program and became certified in 2003 and now runs his equine rehab clinic at home. He presently operates to return debilitated horses to their chosen working careers.
Steve Skinner graduated from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1971 and carried out his internship at the University of California, Davis, in 1972. He then became the Administrative Director of the DLM Emergency Veterinary Clinic 1973-1975, where he still is on call as a consultant, for emergencies in neurology and neurosurgery.
His private practice began in Portland 1972-1973 as the Administrative Director of the DLM Emergency Veterinary Clinic 1973-1975. He did his residency in Neurology and Neurosurgery at Good Samaritan Hospital and at the Oregon Health Sciences Center in Portland, Oregon. He began his regular practice at the Oregon Veterinary Specialty Clinic in 1976 and has been a specialist in private practice, since that time, in Neurology and Neurosurgery. Steve is presently working as a member of the Oregon Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Beaverton, Oregon.
Dr. Skinner is the president and chairman of the board of the North American Strasser Hoofcare organization, The Equine Soundness Association.
