Our barefoot method works with the horse as a whole and the hoof as a working organ, not just a block at the end of the leg. In a natural environment, which includes the proper amount of movement, the horse will maintain a balance between hoof-growth and wear from normal activity or proper trimming to maintain such a balance. This balanced approach will support circulatory function, shock absorption and therefore healthy skeletal and suspensory systems in the horse. All of these functions are key elements that constitute a healthy hoof and contribute towards the whole of the healthy individual.
World-wide, people applying barefoot trims are able to ride their horses without shoes over all terrain, in competitions for English and Western disciplines or for pleasure, distance, racing, and jumping. Equine clients are routinely started, kept and restored to a full and active natural life, many after having been given up as "hopeless and incurable" by conventional veterinary medicine.

ESA Teleconference presentation featuring Dr. Edward de Beukelaer, DVM, MRCVS
This weekend! Saturday August 22 at 2:00 CST.
A renown homeopathic veterinarian from the UK, the topic of his presentation is Health and Healing, and How to Plan the Support for a Horse in Transition. Dr. de Beukelaer suggests a new way of looking at health and disease which could revolutionize the holistic approach to healing, and would explain not only why there are side effects to various treatments, but why treatments can be ineffective, and how to achieve permanent healing. He will also discuss the nature of all "energy" medicine (such as homeopathy), and how it can be considered "information" medicine, working much in the way that a software patch or upgrade allows a computer or program to function better or correctly again. As such, it must be tailored exactly to both the problem and the individual. If it is not, as is the case with many of our casual uses of homeopathy (such as getting homeopathic arnica from the local health food store and taking it for bruising), one is actually practicing herbal medicine using a homeopathic preparation of the herb rather than true homeopathy.
